Division of Emergency Services
Year-round services include emergency food, commodities, utility assistance, and
homeless shelter.Program funds are limited and are available on a
first-come first-serve basis.
These services are sponsored by the Town
of Springerville, and receives funds from the Emergency Food and Shelter
Program, the State of Arizona through the Northern Arizona Council of
Governments, the Towns of Springerville, Eagar, and local businesses.
Most services are available by appointment only.
Appointments should be scheduled well in advance of an eviction or shut
off notice.
Commodities
A box of fresh fruit, vegetables, and/or canned goods are available twice
each month for low-income households. For a complete list of dates for the
year, contact Community Services.
Utility Assistance
Funding is provided through the State and Federal funding to
pay for one or more electric, propane, water or fire wood acquisition
bills per year. To qualify, you must be low-income.
Homeless and Domestic Violence Shelter
Shelter is provided at a local motel for persons in crisis.
Appliance Repair or Replacement
Financial assistance is provided through the State to aid low-income
households with the replacement or repair of necessary utilities, such as
ovens, stoves, furnace, generator, refrigerator, etc.
Rent or Mortgage Assistance
Assistance is provided to assist low-income households in paying one or
more mortgage or rental payments each year.
Tax Service
Free tax service is available through AARP volunteers for senior citizens and low-income
households---usually in February each year.
Vehicle Repair
Assistance is available to repair vehicles for the purpose of providing
transportation to work or for seeking employment.
Transitional Housing Program
Case managers assist eligible clients by working closely with them to
develop a program that enrolls clients to transition from government
assistance programs to financial independence.
