Town Manager

The Town of Springerville is pleased to introduce our new Town Manager, Scott Garms.

Scott moved to Springerville in 1976 with his family when his father took a job at the Coronado Generating Station in St Johns.  He graduated from the Round Valley High in 1980 where he then attended the Chemical Engineering College at the Arizona State University for two years.

 Scott went to work for the Eagar Police Department in 1982 as a police dispatcher.  After attending the Arizona Law Enforcement Training Academy in Tucson, he took a job as a police officer.  Scott rose through the ranks and worked as a Patrol Sergeant, Captain, and finally served the last 8 years as the Chief of Police.

 During his law enforcement career, Scott obtained an A.A.S. degree from Northland Pioneer College in Administration of Criminal Justice and then later obtained a second A.A.S. in Business Administration.  He is currently completing his Bachelors in Public Administration from Upper Iowa University.  Scott has just completed the first year of a two year program through the University of Arizona called the Center for Rural Leadership.

 Scott is married to Kris who works for the U.S. Forest Service.  He has two sons, Evan, who is going to Westwood College of Aviation in Denver, Colorado, and Trevor, who is entering his freshman year in high school.

 Scott has over two decades of public service in municipal government and expresses dedication to the mission of service to the citizens and businesses of Springerville.  Scott says that, “My goal is to provide an integrated service of value to all of Springerville through the professional work of our departments and quality employees.”

The Town of Springerville is managed by the Town Manager. The Manager is appointed by the Council, and is responsible for providing recommendations to the Council on strategic direction. The Town Manager, through his staff and department heads, is also responsible for implementing and administering policy decisions set forth by the Council.
